Experience of Developing and Performing Sociodrama by College Students for Sexual Harrassment Prevention

Abstract
The objective of this study is to find out what college students experience when they develop sociodrama for sexual harassment prevention and perform in front of peer group. This study used a phenomenological analysis method, called the Giorgi method. Ten college students who attend ¡®P¡¯ college in Chungnam Province participated in this study from September till December of 2016, and they were given focus group interview sessions during their developing sociodrama script, and before and after their performance in front of peer group. The data were analyzed to result in 90 meaningful units, 22 sub-structural elements and 7 structural elements. The 7 structural elements include ¡®social atmosphere which is difficult to reveal,¡¯ ¡®enhancing level of completion despite helplessness,¡¯ ¡®becoming united,¡¯ ¡®fear of being evaluated,¡¯ ¡®becoming mature,¡¯ ¡®confirming the expanding use of sociodrama,¡¯ and ¡®using sociodrama as ground for change.¡¯ The significance of this study is found in sociodrama to contribute to diversify sexual harassment prevention programs for college students, and in sociodrama to help college students experience more mature level of interpersonal and social problem awareness by creative activity.
